Ingredients

200g cod, cooked and shredded1/4 red bell pepper, finely chopped1 small onion, finely chopped2 stalks of chives, finely chopped (optional)Chopped parsley, to taste2 eggs1/2 small beer (about 100 ml / ⅓ cup + 1 tbsp)150g (1¼ cups) self-rising flourGround white pepper, to tasteSalt, to tasteOil, for frying

Preparation

  1. In a bowl, beat the eggs well with the beer and a pinch of salt.
  2. Add the shredded cod, red pepper, onion, chives (if using), parsley, and white pepper.
  3. Gradually mix in the flour until you get a thick, smooth batter.
  4. Heat plenty of oil in a deep skillet or pan.
  5. Spoon portions of the mixture into the hot oil and fry until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Drain the fritters on paper towels before serving.
