Crusty and rustic Portuguese artisan bread recipe with golden crackly crust, airy crumb, and old-world flavor, perfect for soups, spreads, or warm butter.

Ingredients
3 cups of all-purpose flour1 ½ cups of water1 teaspoon instant dry yeast1 teaspoon salt
Preparation
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, salt, and instant dry yeast and mix well.
- Make a well in the center of the flour and pour in the water.
- Mix everything with a spoon, there is no need to knead.
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let it rise for 8 hours at room temperature.
- Preheat the oven to 480°F (250°C).
- Transfer the dough to a sheet of parchment paper dusted with flour.
- Shape it into a ball (add a little more flour if the dough is too sticky).
- Place it in a preheated oven safe heavy pot, cover with the lid, and bake for 30 minutes.
- After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for another 10 minutes.
- Keep an eye on it so it doesn’t overbrown.
Note: This recipe does not use active dry yeast, please make sure you only use "instant dry yeast".
